Botik – Garden, Atmosphere, and Community Spirit

At the heart of Botik lies a wild garden that, for years, grew freely — untouched by human hands.

When planning for Botik began in the spring of 2019, great care was taken to preserve the existing ecosystem: not a single healthy tree was removed when the new paths were laid.

To this day, a curious fox remains a regular visitor.

Botik has long outgrown the label of “just a bar.” Together with its garden, it has become a unique venue for all kinds of events — from stand-up comedy and trivia nights to drink-and-draw sessions, poetry readings, and lectures. Ping-pong tournaments, rooftop cinema, music nights, garden dinners, and evenings by the fire have all contributed to an atmosphere that has charmed many. In addition to public events, the space often hosts lively private parties.

In recent years, Põhjala Tehas has hosted the international BMX and skateboarding competition Simple Session, drawing extreme sports fans from around the world to Kopli.

At one afterparty in Botik’s garden, a group of local men gathered just beyond the fence to enjoy the festive atmosphere. They brought snacks and drinks from the store, fired up a grill, and joined the vibe from their side. When the athletes caught the scent of barbecue drifting over, they struck up a conversation — and for a few dozen euros, the shashlik ended up on the party table.

A perfect example of a spontaneous, cross-cultural connection.
